Terms of Service
Effective: May 16, 2026 · Last updated: May 16, 2026These terms govern your use of dogma.game, our mailing list, and the playable game demo at play.dogma.game. By using any of these services, you agree to be bound by them.
1. Who we are
When we say "Dogma Studios", "we", "us", or "our" in these terms, we mean Dogma Studios LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of Delaware, United States. When we say "the services", we mean dogma.game, our mailing list, the demo at play.dogma.game, and any future Dogma products covered by these terms.
2. Eligibility
By using the services, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or 16 where required by local law) and that you have the legal authority to enter into these terms. If you are using the services on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
3. Your account
Playing the demo requires creating an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
- Use a strong, unique password and not reuse it on other services.
- Treat your account as personal — don't share, sell, lend, transfer, or buy accounts. Each Dogma account belongs to one person.
- Notify us promptly at austin@dogma.game if you believe your account has been compromised.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used in ways that endanger the services or other players.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use the services to:
- Cheat, automate, botscript, or use modified clients. The Dogma game server is authoritative; trying to circumvent that ruins the game for everyone else.
- Reverse-engineer or decompile our software except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, including testing for vulnerabilities outside an officially-announced bug bounty.
- Disrupt, overload, or attempt to deny service to any part of the infrastructure (game servers, edge APIs, marketing site).
- Harass, threaten, or stalk other players or our team. The services are for grown-ups; act like one.
- Use the services to violate any law, including export-control and sanctions rules. The services are not available in jurisdictions subject to comprehensive US sanctions.
We may remove content, suspend access, or terminate accounts for any breach of these rules.
5. Your content in the game
When you create a character, type in-game chat, name an item, or generate any other content within Dogma, you keep ownership of the underlying creativity (your name choices, character backstory if you write one, etc.). You grant Dogma Studios a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, transmit, and process that content as needed to run the services and to develop and improve them. If you remove the content (e.g. delete a character), that licence ends for new uses, subject to reasonable backup retention.
You're responsible for the content you submit. Don't submit anything you don't have the right to share, anything illegal, or anything intended to harass, defame, or harm others.
6. Our content
Everything that makes up Dogma — the game itself, the engine, the website, the wordmark, the art, the music, the source code, the trademarks — belongs to Dogma Studios or our licensors. You get a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the services for their intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicence any of our content except as expressly permitted by these terms or by applicable law.
7. Mailing list and email
If you sign up for our mailing list, you're consenting to receive occasional product updates, milestone announcements, and beta invites from Dogma Studios. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send or by contacting austin@dogma.game.
We send transactional email related to your game account (verification, password reset, security notifications) regardless of marketing preferences — that email is essential to running the service. You can stop receiving it by deleting your account.
8. Changes to the services
The services are under active development. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We may change UI, redesign systems, retire the demo, wipe progress between major builds, or take the services down temporarily for maintenance. We'll do our best to communicate significant changes in advance, but we don't guarantee continuous availability or backward-compatible saves until we explicitly enter a stable release.
9. Termination
You can stop using the services at any time and delete your account from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if your use of the services creates legal risk for us or other players, or if we discontinue any part of the services. On termination, the licences you granted survive for the content already on our systems to the extent needed for backups, legal compliance, or operating the remaining services.
10. Disclaimers
The services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Dogma Studios disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the services will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, that any defects will be corrected, or that your gameplay progress will be preserved across builds.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Dogma Studios is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the services is limited to one hundred US dollars (US $100), or the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits; in those jurisdictions, this section applies to the maximum extent permitted.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dogma Studios and its officers, directors, employees, and contractors from any claim or demand (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your breach of these terms, your content, or your misuse of the services.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and Dogma Studios agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware to resolve any dispute arising out of these terms, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
14. Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as Dogma's services evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. If we make a material change, we'll give you reasonable advance notice in the services or by email. Continuing to use the services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
